What coating systems do you specify for tilt-up concrete exteriors?

Accepted Answer

Two-coat 100% acrylic elastomeric over a masonry conditioner is our default for chalked or weathered tilt-up — it bridges hairline cracks and breathes vapor outward. Where the elevation is sound and color drift is the concern, we'll spec a flat 100% acrylic with a masonry primer instead. Manufacturer is matched to the warranty: Sherwin-Williams Loxon, PPG Pitt-Flex, or Tnemec Series 156, depending on the project.

Do you work while facilities are occupied?

Accepted Answer

Yes — most of our work is in occupied facilities. We sequence around shipping windows, production schedules, ICRA containment in healthcare, and after-hours phasing in commercial. Negative-air containment, low-VOC systems, and floor-by-floor or aisle-by-aisle phasing are standard.

What's your mobilization timeline?

Accepted Answer

Standard mobilization is 2 to 4 weeks from signed contract for planned work. Emergency response — coating failures, weather damage, force-majeure punch — is 24 to 72 hours within our regional footprint. Larger projects (50,000+ sf) typically require 4 to 6 weeks for material lead and crew assembly.

What warranties do you offer on coating systems?

Accepted Answer

Floor systems carry 5 to 10 years (joint contractor + manufacturer). Atmospheric steel and structural coatings carry up to 7 years against adhesion failure. Wallcoverings carry the manufacturer material warranty plus 2-year workmanship. Commercial repaint workmanship is 2 years; specialty linings are quoted per project.

Are your crews employees or subcontractors?

Minturn runs a tiered crew model: direct-employee leadership and core applicators on every project, supported by a vetted bench of specialty partners for surge capacity, geographic reach, and trades like rigging or scaffolding. All field labor — employee or partner — reports to a Minturn superintendent and is held to the same safety, training, and QA/QC requirements. We do not labor-broker or sub-subcontract scope.

What certifications do you hold?

OSHA 30 site supervision, NACE / AMPP-trained applicators, SSPC PCS-trained crews, ICRA Class IV-trained foremen for healthcare, and NGPP CW-101 trained installers for wallcoverings. We are ISNetworld, Avetta, and Veriforce prequalification-ready, and manufacturer-certified by Sherwin-Williams, PPG, Tnemec, and Carboline.

Do you travel outside Ohio?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We self-perform across the Midwest, East, South, and West for program clients and repeat GCs. Ohio and the surrounding states (Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia) are our day-trip footprint; outside that, we mobilize per project with travel housing and per diem built into the bid.
